Covering hundreds of kilometers of shoreline, she co-wrote the Japan Coast Guard’s contingency and tactical plan for shoreline response. Later in the year she was invited to share her insights as a speaker and panelist at the Japan Maritime Center (JMC) and the IOPC Funds’ Joint Seminar, where she was the youngest and only female expert among her distinguished peers in the field of spill response. Following an incident in Gibraltar, Ayumi worked alongside the Gibraltar Port Authority, Gibraltar Environmental Agency, and other stakeholders to provide advice on on-water and shoreline clean-up operations. Early 2024, Ayumi designed and facilitated a two-day workshop on surveillance operations during pollution incidents, bringing together government and industry stakeholders.
